In the program gimp, how do i make the white background bigger, so when I add more pictures it they dont..?

How to make Gimp Previews for filters and plugins?
Have gimp 2.6, really like it and I dont wanna have to go back to photoshop. But the fact that theres no preview for most of gimps plugins is killing me. Im sick of changing a setting, waiting for it to apply, then undo and go back and tweak it a hundred more times. any help? I know theres heavily modded plugins for pre 2.6, i just cant find the 2.6 versions. ty

I asked this question before a couple of times i just need one more opinion on Gimp. sorry if i asked this about 2 times i need another one answerd.1. I have low virtual memory I went into my computer and then i got into system properties and it says at the bottom i have 2.93 Ghz 504 MB of ram then i went into advanced went into preformance pressed setting and went to advanced agian and this and pressed change my space available is 86201 MBInitial size 756 MBMaximum size 1512 MB So will i be ok with downloading Gimp from gimp.orgAlso will it cause my computer crash or is it really safe.The only reason i asked this two times before is that i always get unsure
